The Archaeological Museum of Verucchio is situated in the Ancient Monastery of St. Augustine (dating back to the 12th century and enlarged in the 17th century), it was restored in the '80s to host a selection of artefacts found during the course of subsequent excavation campaigns in the district of Verucchio (566 tombs have been dug up so far). They are evidence of great historical value and in many respects unique, relating to the Villanovan Civilization, which represents a cultural event between the 9th and 7th Century B.C. (before the Iron Age).
The Museum was set up in 1985 with a small selection of materials, but the complex research project that has given life to the current layout was started from 1992 onwards.
